Renowned artist Antony Gormley will discuss his practice, career and current exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts with Director of the Whitechapel Gallery, Iwona Blazwick.
In this special event Antony Gormley will discuss a career spanning over 40 years and his most ambitious exhibition in a decade. He will explore how his series of installations within the RA’s Main Galleries encourage visitors to slow down and become aware of their own bodies and environment.
The talk will be accompanied by speech to text transcription courtesy of Stagetext.
This event will be followed by a book signing, pre-order your copy of the exhibition catalogue in hardback or softback on our online shop. Catalogues will also be available to purchase on the evening.
Antony Gormley is one of the UK’s most celebrated sculptors with solo shows worldwide since the 1980s. Permanent public works include the Angel of the North (Gateshead, England) and Another Place (Crosby Beach, England). Gormley won the Turner Prize in 1994 and has been a member of the Royal Academy since 2003. He was made an Officer of the British Empire in 1997 and knighted in 2014.
Iwona Blazwick has been Director of the Whitechapel Gallery, London since 2001 and is a curator, critic and lecturer. She recently curated Sight, a solo show with Antony Gormley and the Neon Foundation on the Island of Delos (2019).
