Brasil! Brasil! The Birth of Modernism
Find out more about the ten artists who transformed art in Brazil in the twentieth century.
Curators Fabienne Eggelhöfer, Roberta Saraiva Coutinho and Adrian Locke provide a more in-depth exploration of the artists featured in the Brasil! Brasil! The Birth of Modernism exhibition, uncovering the new modern art that emerged from Brazil in the first half of the twentieth century.
As Brazilian artists balanced engagement with international trends with their own, new Brazilian modernism - as well as Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous identities - the scene was set for the cultural flourishing that we have come to know as Brazilian modernism. Join us to discover more about these new modern artists, and to explore an expanded view of the modernist movement.
The event will be accompanied by speech-to-text transcription courtesy of Stagetext.
