The letter probably relates to the portrait of William Lamb in George Hayter's group portrait in oils of 'The Trial of Queen Caroline, 1820.

Content Description

Replying to Bowyer's request for the loan of a picture of Mr Lamb. Lady Caroline contrasts two portraits of her husband: one by Hoppner [oils, 1796] and one by Sir Thomas Lawrence [oils, 1800] and strongly prefers the former in terms of likeness. She supports her view with contrasting profile sketches of the two portraits.
