Daniel Maclise: The Waterloo Cartoon
Curator Annette Wickham introduces this epic cartoon by Daniel Maclise RA, which depicts the meeting of Duke of Wellington and his Prussian ally Field Marshall Blücher after the Battle of Waterloo.
Dating from 1858–59, this incredibly detailed cartoon is over 13 metres wide and is a preparatory drawing for the wall painting of the same subject, which resides in the Royal Gallery of the House of Lords.
This talk is also taking place on 6 October 2015.
Free with an exhibition ticket, no booking required.
