Four Visions for the Future of Housing
How can we design homes that are great places to live? Our panel explore a variety of ideas and propositions.
Although housing is most people’s largest monthly outgoing, our relationship to where we live is much more than financial, but shapes our identity, sense of belonging, mental and even physical wellbeing. But to what extent is this relationship reflected in the new houses being built in Britain today? What impact do aesthetics, materials and quality of space have on how we relate to our homes? Our panel discuss a variety of propositions – some new, others well-established – for designing homes that we instinctively feel a connection to.
Speakers:
Robert Adam – Director, ADAM Architecture
Nicola Dempsey – Lecturer in Landscape Planning, University of Sheffield
Lynsey Hanley – Author of Estates: An Intimate History and Visiting Fellow, Liverpool John Moores University
Roger Zogolovitch – Chairman and Creative Director, Solidspace
Edwin Heathcote (chair) – Architecture critic, Financial Times
