Learn to draw complex geometric patterns, inspired by Islamic art, in this online art class.
Start your Saturday creatively with this online art class. Artist and educator Samira Mian will teach you how to draw mesmerising geometric patterns, inspired by the Islamic texts from our Spain and the Hispanic World exhibition. Learn more about the cultural impact of geometric patterns and enjoy the satisfying and absorbing process of producing them yourself.
Our Saturday Sketch Clubs are a series of online monthly art classes led by artists. Whether you're a beginner or a practising artist, these live-streamed classes are designed for everyone. Sessions take place online via a live webinar. Attendees will be sent a link to join the webinar closer to the time.
Share your work with the online Sketch Club community by posting your drawings to Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #RASketchClub.
Samira Mian is an artist and experienced educator with a passion for Islamic Geometry. Through her artwork and teaching, she has been able to share her passion for the compass and straight edge constructions of Islamic Geometric Patterns.
For this class, all you will need is a pencil, paper, a rubber and items easily found at home.
