Astonishing Things
Discover the possibilities of ink and unleash your imagination in this art-making course.
During this weekend art making course, you will learn the techniques and applications of ink. Taking inspiration from our exhibition, Astonishing Things: The Drawings of Victor Hugo, you will gain insight to the full potential of this ancient medium and apply method and imagination to produce experimental art works that expand your creative horizons.
Guided by artist Rohan Daniel Eason, you will explore a variety of subjects in ink, including faces, figures, natural forms and interior spaces. Experimenting with different tools and surfaces, you will explore how composition, tone, line, form, wash, accident, and intention can combine to construct an artwork in ink.
Rohan Daniel Eason is a British illustrator best known for his intricate ink drawings. Rohan’s works have appeared in literature, tarot cards, and advertisement. Rohan’s work is notable for its obsessive attention to detail and his rich use of narrative. Rohan has illustrated over 50 books, his clients include Harry Potter, Harrods, Penguin and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
