We welcome Ai Weiwei Hon RA, one of China’s most influential contemporary artists, as he discusses his remarkable life and work with Tim Marlow, the RA’s Artistic Director.
Artist and global icon Ai Weiwei has a body of work that spans sculpture, installation, architecture, photography, video and music. Also widely known for his social conscience and strong convictions, Ai’s provocative and brave artworks are further recognised for their important commentary on creative freedom, censorship and human rights. In this exclusive event, Tim Marlow talks to Ai Weiwei about his artistic influences, the role of politics in his practice and his work within the context of Chinese heritage and culture.
