This study of the head of a boy possibly depicts one of Clausen's grandchildren, Peter (born 1915) or John (born 1921).

The drawing came to the RA Collection from the estate of Peter Clausen grouped with three studies identified as drawings of Peter as a young man dated variously 1931 and 1934 (see 04/2871, 04/2872 and 04/2873).
