Richard Redgrave RA (1804 - 1888)
RA Collection: Art
A small compositional sketch in pen and ink for 'The Fortune Hunter', which Redgrave painted and exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1843.
In contrast to the painting, the spurned woman is seated facing the amorous couple.
The contrast of light and shade seems to have been a preoccupation in many of the compositional sketches in the album. Here the artist has left blank areas of the sketch to indicate where it should be lighter.
