Alfred Parsons RA (1847 - 1920)

RA Collection: Art

The drawings in this group all depict landscapes around the River Avon. Parsons lived in Broadway, Worcestershire, and frequently sketched and painted in the nearby area around the Avon. A selection of his drawings of Avon landscapes, and local flora and fauna were exhibited at the Fine Art Society in 1885 and some of them (including drawings in this group) were subsequently reproduced as illustrations to A. T. Quiller Couch's The Warwickshire Avon with illustrations by Alfred Parsons (1892 Harper Brothers, New York).
