Marco D' Oggiono (ca. 1467 - ca. 1524)

RA Collection: People and Organisations

The Italian painter Marco d’Oggiono is first documented in 1487, in a contract engaging him to teach an artist to paint miniatures. He must therefore have been well established in Milan by this time. He was associated with Leonardo da Vinci by 1490. He worked in various Italian towns on altarpieces and frescoes between 1498 and 1504, when he returned to Milan. From then until his death he worked exclusively in Milan and its environs.

Marco was commissioned to paint an altarpiece in Milan in 1491 with Antonio Boltraffio, and like Boltraffio he was strongly influenced by Leonardo.
