English writer and publisher. The only child of writer, critic and publisher Edward Garnett (1868-1937) and Constance Clara Black (1861-1946), a translator of Russian.
David Garnett was a prominent member of the Bloomsbury Group. He ran a bookshop in Gerrard Street, Soho London, with Francis Birrell (1889-1935) during the 1920s. He also founded, with Francis Meynell and Vera Mendel, the Nonesuch Press.
