General Note
The book was dedicated to the Earl of Auckland, G.C.B., First Lord of the Admiralty. The printer statement is found on the verso of the title-page, 'Printed By Richard And John E. Tayor, / Red Lion Court, Fleet Street.' At the end of the text is a two-page list and description of 'Other Works by the same Author.' as well as nine pages on 'University College, London. Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture.'
Provenance
The front flyleaf carries a letter from the author pasted to it addressed to 'Thos Unwins, Esq. Librarian R.A.' coming from Bolton Gardens, Russell Square and dated 29 June 1847: 'My dear Sir / I beg to offer for the / Library of the Royal Academy / a copy of a little work recently / finished by me as a mark / of faithful respect to Alma Mater. ...'
