In response to Harward's letter declaring himself for Chambers's daughter, Charlotte, which also contained the consent of his father, the
Dean of Exeter. He and his wife given their consent with pleasure. He is now well aware of Harward's character and connection, but in ignorance of his fortune. He must know of this with regard to the amount settled on Charlotte for the marriage. To his other daughters he gave £2000 on their marriage, settled a further £1000 on them as individuals, and allowed another £2000 each by bequest. He hopes for a reponse of equal openess.
