Content Description
His letter had not arrived until near Honiton fair, which the "fluttering hopes" of the whole community look to. He compares Humphry's proposed journey to his homeland to that of
Alderman Boydell to Shropshire. Elegantly descirbes the changes that have been wrought upon Honiton in recent years. His own age had reduced his capacities for entertaining to a "dish of coffee" in the afternoon, but he would be happy to accommodate Humphry.
