He is glad Church is willing to help his good friend Mr. Hills, who has a genuine desire to be a friend to artists. Poppy seed oil, clarified with charcoal is "delightful stuff". Discusses other types of varnish. He thinks this work will prove to "our detractors" that the R.A. is not unmindful of the needs of artists, even in mateiral matters.
