Northcote has painted an equestrian portrait of
King George IV; his admiration of the King; numerous persons associated with the court have assured him that no such likeness has been produced before;
Chantrey had told him he had improved upon his bust of the King, which had been of infinite service to him; Northcote thinks it one of his best pictures; he did not wish Knighton to know that he was painting the portrait, less it intrude on his time. The letter is written on the back of a list of the Academicians as they served on Council, and is endorsed "Written by Mr N. in pencil but inked by E. S. R."
