Content Description

The artistic community should be grateful to the Pall Mall Gazette for starting the discussion on the problems with the Royal Academy system. But he thinks there is no chance of the Academy acting from within. He thinks Sydney Hodges plan more practical. The fact that most artists have written anonymously is most humiliating. He thinks the modus operandi of the Academy a hang-over from the time of patronage and quite out of step with the 19th century.
