Story collage
Use collage to bring together the different elements of a story: actors, symbols, and setting.
Create a story collage
What you need
Sketchbook | Black and white print-outs of RA artwork images | Scissors | Glue | Colouring materials
Steps
• Print several artworks from the RA collection
• Invite students to browse the images and select one figure, one object and one landscape (or interior) element.
• Alternatively, create ‘lucky dip’ boxes so each student receives a random selection as their starting point
• Cut out and glue onto paper or a sketchbook page, thinking about how to arrange them and how they relate to each other.
• Use different media (drawing, painting, collage etc) to develop the page, link the elements, add colour to the print-outs and build a story.
