Acknowledgements
The Royal Academy of Arts is very grateful to Arts Council England for supporting this project. The Designation Development grant awarded in 2014 has funded the conservation, photography, digitisation, display and interpretation of Daniel Maclise’s cartoon for The Meeting of Wellington and Blucher. The exhibition Daniel Maclise: The Waterloo Cartoon has also been supported by the Royal Academy’s Collections and Library Circle and by Charles and Regine Aldington in memory of Toby Aldington.
The curators of the exhibition would like to thank the staff of the Royal Armouries, Leeds, especially Mark Murray-Flutter and his colleagues who have been very generous in sharing their expertise. We are also grateful to Caroline Babington, James Ford, Malcolm Hay and Melanie Unwin at the Palace of Westminster for their help and advice and for providing access to the Royal Gallery and to works in the Parliamentary Art Collection. Thanks are due to Royal Academy colleagues Veronica Bevan, Rebecca Comber, Morgan Feely and Edwina Mulvany.
