Join Marina Abramović for a one-off public participation performance titled An Invitation to Love Unconditionally, live in the RA’s courtyard.
The artist will invite participants to share a moment of stillness and togetherness through physical contact, for seven minutes.
Abramović is renowned for performances involving members of the public, including her most famous piece, The Artist is Present. She believes in the transformative power of live performance art.

Commonly asked questions
How can I attend the performance?
You must have a ticket to attend the performance. You can book the tickets from 3pm on Thursday 7 December. Tickets are only available online. Tickets are free and available via a randomised virtual queue. You can book up to two tickets per person.
I’m a Member, why don’t I get priority booking?
At the artist’s request, Marina Abramović’s performance, An Invitation to Love Unconditionally, is open to all. Booking for this surprise performance will be managed by a randomised virtual queue to ensure the fairest access for all.
I haven't got a ticket, can I still come?
The event can only be attended by those who have booked a ticket in advance. Anyone who does not have a ticket will be refused entry.
I have a ticket, what time should I arrive?
Please arrive at the front gates of Burlington House from 11:30 am. Please note there will be ticket checks and security to enter the courtyard.
Do the tickets include access to the exhibition?
No, these tickets are for the event only. The Royal Academy of Arts, including the exhibition, is closed on Mondays.
Will the event be fully accessible?
The courtyard is accessible and we will have wheelchairs or stools for those who need them. There will be no disabled parking as the courtyard is closed.
Will any RA facilities be open?
Toilet facilities will be available, but our cloakroom, cafés, restaurants, shops and exhibitions (including the Marina Abramović exhibition) will be closed to the public. It won't be possible to bring luggage or large bags into the courtyard.
Please wear weather-appropriate clothing, as there is no shelter in the courtyard and the performance won't be moved to an indoor venue if it rains.
Terms and conditions
- The Royal Academy reserves the right to refuse admission.
- Where your conduct is unacceptable (in the RA’s reasonable opinion), we reserve the right to request that you leave the performance.
- You can book a maximum of two tickets per person. Tickets are non-transferable.
- The RA shall not be responsible for loss or damage to your personal property brought into the RA.
- Ticket holders consent to the photographing, recording and filming of themselves as participants for use by the RA and the artist.
