In celebration of the Royal Academy’s transformative redevelopment, David Chipperfield RA will give the first public lecture in our spectacular new venue for conversation and debate.
David Chipperfield, the architect behind the design of the New RA – including the striking new double-height Lecture Theatre which will seat more than 250 people – will discuss the monumental project and his current architectural preoccupations in the first lecture to take place in the new space.
Since establishing his eponymous practice in 1985, Chipperfield has developed an impressive portfolio of work, that ranges including cultural, residential, commercial, leisure and civic projects as well as masterplanning exercises. He is highly esteemed for his cultural projects often working with museums and galleries that have a rich and often complicated relationship with their history, such as Berlin’s Neues Museum and Neue Nationalgalerie, and the Kunsthaus Zurich in Switzerland.
