Join Westminster Guide Anthony Davis as we discover 400 years of literary connections within this fashionable part of London adjacent to Piccadilly and the home of the Royal Academy.
London’s historic bibliomaniacs, writers, booksellers and publishers come to life as we view some of the buildings they lived in and the places they knew. Enjoy tales of Charles Dickens's beard, Nell Gwyn's oranges and Oscar Wilde's cigarettes as we wander through the historic streets of St. James’s. During the walk, we discover the site of a lost theatre and London’s most exclusive private library. Anthony Davis is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, a Westminster City Guide and a lecturer and bibliophile.
This event is also taking place on 20 March 2018.
