Join us for a private architectural tour of the Georgian Benjamin Franklin House, the only surviving residence of Benjamin Franklin, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States.
This museum is located in the terraced Georgian house at 36 Craven Street, close to Trafalgar Square, where Franklin lived between 1757 and 1775. The house was built circa 1730, holds a Grade I listing and retains a majority of original features such as the central staircase, eighteenth-century panelling, windows, fittings, and beams, which have been unimproved over time.
On this architectural tour we will explore the historical fabric of the building and have an opportunity to enjoy a demonstration of the ‘glass armonica’, an intriguing musical instrument invented by Franklin.
Please note that the house has steep, narrow steps.
