Architect John Scott, a descendant of the Victorian architect George Gilbert Scott RA, leads our walking tour around Bedford Park, described by Sir John Betjeman as ‘the most significant suburb built in the last century, probably in the western world’.
Now a conservation area, Bedford Park was built in the 1870s as an enclave for artists. Its magnificent Queen Anne-style houses provided architectural inspiration for the garden city and garden suburb movements. On our walking tour with local Chiswick architect John Scott, we learn about the history of the area and the artistic community it fostered.
