Join us for an intimate music performance and discussion with artist Edmund de Waal and Aurora Orchestra. We celebrate their collaboration, which explores the meaning of the colour white across music, poetry and the visual arts.
This is the first in a series of events celebrating 'white', a collaborative festival exploring the meaning of white, with the artist and writer Edmund de Waal joining forces with Aurora Orchestra in a commission of new work by the Scottish composer, Martin Suckling.
To coincide with this performance, de Waal has also curated white, an exhibition in the Royal Academy’s Library, of his favourite white objects and paintings, from death masks and medieval ivories to contemporary photographs and sculpture, all exploring what white can do in the world.
This performance is a reflection of some of the conversations that can be had between the musical and the visual, and during the event audiences will have the chance to hear a discussion between Edmund de Waal and Martin Suckling about the commission and its context.
Edmund de Waal's new book, The White Road, will be on sale following the event.
This event is followed by a drinks reception.
