Friends tour the Bodleian Library (the main research library of the University of Oxford) and the Ashmolean Museum, which houses the University’s Art Collection and numerous other treasures.
In Britain, the Bodleian is second in size only to the British Library, with over 11 million items. Friends tour this magnificent building, exploring hidden parts of the library including the Divinity School, Chancellor’s Court, Radcliffe Camera and Gladstone Link. After lunch, Friends enjoy a tour of the highlights of the Ashmolean Museum. By special arrangement we will also view a selection of the Museum’s most precious and delicate artworks, including drawings by Michelangelo, Raphael and Rembrandt, as well as watercolours by Burne-Jones and prints by Dürer.
There are numerous steps and stairs on this visit.
Friends will need to make their own travel arrangements to Oxford.
