Friends of the RA book first
We visit Bentley Priory in Stanmore, the headquarters of RAF Fighter Command and the base from which Commander Sir Hugh Dowding directed his men in the Battle of Britain in 1940.
In 2013, the Battle of Britain Trust opened the house as a museum following eight years of restoration. On our tour we learn about the fascinating history of the house, which is of considerable interest in its own right both historically and architecturally; it originated as a 12th-century Augustinian Priory, followed by an 18th-century re-modelling by Sir John Soane.
Includes Coach, Tea.
Meet on Piccadilly outside the RA.
