Join us for an evening with Sir David Chipperfield RA, 2023 Laureate of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, as he discusses his career and the evolving role of architectural practice.
Sir David Chipperfield RA is the world-renowned architect behind the design of the Royal Academy’s recent re-developments. In 2023 he was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize, regarded internationally as architecture’s highest honour.
Elegantly beautiful, Chipperfield’s work is characterised by a faith in the craft of architecture. Notable cultural projects include the restoration of the Neues Museum, Berlin, the Hepworth Wakefield and the Turner Contemporary in Margate.
In this event Chipperfield will reflect on his career and the evolving role, responsibilities and opportunities for architectural practice. He will also discuss the work of Fundación RIA, his non-profit think-tank which champions sustainable development and quality of life in Galicia, northern Spain; and his ongoing transformation of the RA Schools.
Expect a special film screening of the Pritzker Prize ceremony, originally held in Athens in May 2023, followed by a conversation with the architect.
