Upton was an American born English author and illustrator who wrote a series of bestselling children’s books in the late 19th century, she is most famous for her Golliwogg series of books.
The Vege-Men’s Revenge is written in a narrative poem with three parts. The story is about a girl named Poppy who is taken to Vege-Man’s land by Herr Carrot and Don Tomato. The King insists on placing her in a hole in the ground to learn how to grow.
