The cast is of a funerary urn that bears an inscription: To the Gods of the Underworld. For L. Rasticanus Eu.odes who deserved well. His most pious mother Rasticana made this. The inscription does not appear in the corpus of Latin inscriptions. Yet other freedmen of L. Rasticanus are attested in Roman grave monuments, and an urn in Newby Hall purchased in the 18th c. in Rome, shows an extremely similar form and decoration. The cast is therefore of an object probably from Rome.
