The printer (of prints and books), Albert Marie Jérôme Quantin (1850-1933), was trained in Tours by Mame from 1868; in 1876 established his firm by buying Jules Claye's business, of which he had been the director from 1873. From 1886 he worked in partnership with Louis Henry May and his firm was henceforth known as 'Maison Quantin, Compagnie générale d'Impression et d'Édition, SA'; then as 'Ancienne Maison Quantin'. In 1890 merged with 'Imprimeries réunies' to become 'Librairies-Imprimeries réunies (anc. Maison Quantin, Motteroz, Morel, Martinet) SA'. [Source: British Museum website].
