William George Paulson Townsend (1868 – 1941) was an English artist, designer, writer and editor. His father was a coachbuilder and designer and his younger brother, Ernest Townsend was also an artist. He wrote and published widely on the decorative arts. From 1902 Townsend produced and edited the quarterly serial The Art Workers’ Quarterly, published by Chapman and Hall.
Townsend was also teacher of drawing, government examiner of art and master of design at the Royal School of Needlework.
