Victoria Adam (b. 1983, Somerset) previously studied at the Slade School of Fine Art.
Adam makes sculptures intended to be experienced close-up and draw people into their intimacy. Borrowing from the world of the health and beauty aisle and contemporary anxieties, the works often use tactile or sensual appeal to mark out ideas of personal space, chance connection, desire or derision.
Through the methods of their making, the objects are usually intensely handled and worked, wavering between a satisfaction from polished surface and a gleeful pleasure in hands-on grubbiness.
