Peter Spier (1927-2017) was an American illustrator and writer who created more than 30 children’s books. He was the son of popular artist and illustrator Jo Spier who was transferred to a concentration camp during the Second World War. After a short spell in the Royal Netherlands Navy the Spier family moved to the USA where Spier began a career as a commercial artist for advertising agencies and illustrator of children’s books. He mainly used ink, watercolour and paper.
