Artist, miniature painter, photographer. Attended Royal Academy Schools from 9th January 1857. From 1851 to 1898 he exhibited at the Royal Academy and with the Society of British Artists. His grandfather was James Heath ARA (1757 - 1834). Son of engraver Charles Theodosius Heath (1785-1848); brother of engravers Frederick Augustus Heath (1810-78) and Alfred Theodosius Heath (1812-96); father of scientific advisor Sir Frank Heath (1863-1946), artist Ernest Dudley Heath (1867-) and miniature painter Hugh Lionel Heath (1871-1938).
He was appointed ‘Miniature Painter’ to Queen Victoria on 14 October 1890.
