Else Holmelund Minarik was an American author who wrote over 40 children’s books, some of which were adapted for television. She was commonly associated with her “Little Bear” series of children’s books and later in life married Pulitzer prize winning journalist Homer Bigart. During the Second World War she worked as a journalist for the Daily Sentinel newspaper.
