Clare Collas (née Waters) studied at the Royal Academy Schools (Painting) from January 1906 to January 1909. Prior to that she attended the St John’s Wood Art School.
In 1914 she married Douglas Philip Jervoise Collas at St Stephen’s Church, Dulwich. She worked as an illustrator, and wrote several children’s books, including: Four’s company (London, 1942); The flying village: an improbable story (London, 1943); The Blue-Coated Heron (London, 1944) and Penny for the Guy (London, 1945), all of which were illustrated by Dod Procter RA.
