Printer in Leeds. He founded his printing business in 1866 and expanded into colour printing in 1868. He moved his operation to Hunslet, Leeds in the early 1870s. In 1885 he was granted a Royal Warrant as ‘Chromolithographer to Her Majesty, or `Her Majesty’s Colour Printer’. In 1890 he was Mayor of Leeds.
