Also found loosely placed in the volume is a formal notice of a half-yearly general assembly of the company of proprietors of the West Middlesex Water Works to be held on 4 November 1851; the notice being addressed to Wm Carpenter Esqe. The notice has been folded in half and notes in ink relating to the contents of this book have been written on the verso. It is possible that the owner was William Hookham Carpenter (1792-1866), Keeper of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum (1845-1866), etcher, and collector of Old Master prints, drawings and paintings, and previously a publisher.
