$a This group of plates is extracted from Part 2 of Regola de' Cinque Ordini d'Architettura, Di M. Giacomo Barozzio Da Vignola (Amstelodami, 1642). According to the RIBA Catalogue the present title-plate is in the 1642 book numbered 17 (bis) and placed after plate 17. Only plates '17 (bis)', 19, 20, 22-26 are by Radi - copied from his Varie inventioni per depositi (Rome, 1618). Plates 1-18, 21 are copied from G.B. Montano's Diversi ornamenti capricciosi (1625). And Plate 27 (and Plate 28 not included here) show designs by Jacques Francquart and were possibly first printed in Utrecht about 1630. All the plates are elevations, without plans. Most show tombs, but pl. 23-26 show memorial plaques. |
