The plates consist of: the added engraved title-plate; four unnumbered plates (viz. an earlier engraved title-plate with the imprint of Antwerp 1649, an allegory of Rome, and two portraits); numbered plates 1-121, showing portraits of artists, captioned with names of sitters and painters. Most sitters are Dutch or Belgian. The earlier engraved title-plate reads, 'Image De Divers Hommes d Esprit Sublime Qui Par Leur Art Et Science Deburovent Vivre Eternellement et Des Quels La Louange Et Renommée Faict Estonner Le Monde A Anvers Mis En Lumiere Par Iean Meyssens Peinctre et Vendeur De LArt Au Cammestraet L'An.
