The tragicall history of Doctor Faustus / as it hath been acted by the Right Honorable the Earle of Nottingham his servents / written by Christopher Marlowe ; and printed by V.S. for Th. Bushell 1604 ; newly imprinted engravings by Blair Hughes-Stanton
"This edition of Marlowe's works has been planned by Christopher Sandford and F. J. Newbery and printed for the Golden Hours Press at the Chiswick Press. The type is Bembo revived from an early Aldine fount. The paper is pure rag hand-made. By arrangement with the Clarendon Press the text used is that of the Standard Oxford Marlowe edited by C. F. Tucker Brooke, following in the main the quarto of 1604, which was almost certainly printed from Marlowe's original version as acted in 1588-1589. The illustrations were engraved by Blair Hughes-Stanton by courtesy of the Gregynog Press. Of this volume 250 copies have been printed, 200 only being for sale. Copy no. 32(a)." - colophon.
Pasted to the bottom of the colophon: "This edition was originally planned and printed for the Golden Hours Press and 200 copies were made available for sale. Of this number a balance remains and these have been taken over by HOLLIS & CARTER LTD. Publishing at 25 Ashley Place, London, S.W.1 who now offer the original text in a less elaborate binding. These are numbered 1(a) onwards."
