Provenance
5 March 1810: Purchase agreed on recommendation of John Flaxman (see RA Council Minutes, IV, 199-200). A copy was acquired by 1815 - see Thomas Stothard's MS. 'Catalogue of the RA Library', shelf B.2.5. [RAA MIS/ ST/1]. Sometime after 1821 however this copy went missing (see the RA Secretary's master copy of the 1821 printed catalogue) and was replaced by the present copy purchased for 6s. on 23 January 1840 (see RA Council Minutes, IX, 96).
Copy Note
Imperfect; wants half-title of Vol. II. The divisional title-page of the Bacchae, which should be p. [v] of Vol. I, has been bound in in error before that of the Iphigenia in Aulis in Volume II.
Inscribed in ink on half-title of Volume I, 'Prize book adjudged to John Daintry Decr. 1811 M.M. Preston'.
