F.S. Mahony contributed his 'Reliques of Father Prout' to Fraser's Magazine serially from 1834 to 1836, before publishing them as a collection in 1836, with illustrations by Maclise. The articles retail fictitious accounts of incidents in 'Father Prout''s life and his opinions of contemporary writers such as Harriet Martineau and Bulwer Lytton, interspersed with poems and verse translations.
