`In addition to the twenty-six full-page black-and-wite drawings and the many head and tailpieces, there are twelve lithographs specially drawn in six colours on Plastocowell by the artist (i.e. Anthony Gross). Using this medium (perfected by Cowells of Ipswich) it is possible to work on a specially grained plastic sheet in opaque inks, or chalks, and to achieved a wide range of effects, all of which can be printed down on the sensitized offset zinc plate.’ [dust-jacket].
