General Note
This is one volume of a three volume publication. This copy consists of 24 unnumbered leaves of plates followed by pages 1-108 only of the text entitled 'Tallis's history and description of the Crystal Palace' (the complete text runs to page 262). The complete text was planned to appear in volume two (as indicated by the 'Vol. II' which appears at the foot of page 1). A copy of volume two viewed online begins with the complete text and has leaves of plates interspersed throughout the text, some of which appear in this copy but many are different. This copy does not have a title-page. The spine of the binding of this copy says 'Div. III.' but it is unclear what this was meant to indicate.
Binding Note
This copy has a publisher's binding of gilt decoration and lettering on blue cloth. The front cover has a depiction of the Crystal Palace, people, decorative features and lettering 'The Crystal Palace' and, at the foot of the cover, 'J Tallis & Co London & New York.' The highly decoratied spine is lettered, 'The / Crystal / Palace', 'Div. III. / - / Price 10/6.' and 'J. Tallis &'.
