The text includes A Report and Estimate, on the projected Dry Tunnel, or Subterraneous Passage, under the River Tyne, to communicate with the Towns of North and South Shields (p. 17-22).

The plates show: 1. a plan and vertical and horizontal sections of the proposed tunnel from Gravesend to Tilbury; 2. a view of Gravesend and Tilbury indicating the situation of the proposed tunnel, and a section of the river in the line of the tunnel; 3. a map indicating the roads and principal towns within the immediate influence of the tunnel and of the canal.
