The author is not named on the title page, but the work is dedicated to the Académie Royale Des Inscriptions Et Belles Lettres (afterwards part of the Institut de France) by Caylus.
The frontispiece (which forms an added, engraved title-plate) is not signed but is stated in the 'Explication Des Vignettes ...' to represent 'le fond de mon jardin. ... Il a été dessiné & pensé par M. Bouchardon.' The plates are not signed.
